Tata Steel Celebrates World Population Day

Tata Steel Family Initiatives Foundation (TSFIF) observed World Population Day by organizing a family planning camp and a seminar at Community Centre, Dhatkidih.

The main aim of this programme was to spread the awareness and sensitize the people about the rising population across the globe.

Chief Guest, Mr. Sanjiv Paul, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Mr Sanjiv Paul while addressing the gathering emphasized on the need of population stabilisation through such family planning camps. He also stressed on sensitizing the people on population stabilisation.

After the inauguration, Mr Sanjiv Paul flagged off 200 auto rickshaws that will be displaying posters on population stabilisation throughout the city.

The seminar on this subject was attended by many newly married couples, mothers-in-law, parents of adolescents etc. It was facilitated by Ms Rama Khanna from CARE India and Dr Pushpa Tiwari, Joint Administrator, TSFIF.

Besides seminar other activities like drawing competition, slogan writing, speech & collage competitions and MCH (Maternal and Child Health) run were also held on the same day.

Dr. Bhibha Sharan, Civil Surgeon, East Singbhum graced the occasion and distributed prizes to the participants.

Others present on the occasion included, Dr. Swaran Singh, ACMO ,Jamshedpur, Mr Biren Bhuta, Chief Corporate Sustainability Services, Dr. P.C. Mahapatra, Head, Family Initiatives & Health, representatives from various NGO, CSS team, local beneficiaries and community people etc.
