FAMD, Sukinda observes July as 'Ethics month'

The Ferro Alloy and Mineral Division (FAMD), Sukinda is celebrating the month of July as "Ethics Month". A function was organized at the administrative office lawn to observe the event on July 1, 2010.

Inaugurating the event, Mr LS Divakera General Manager, impressed upon the greater ethical behavior shown by the employees of FAMD. He mentioned that Mr GK Guin from Sukinda has been adjudged as the best Ethics Counselor of the company.

In this backdrop, he called upon the employees not only to be ethical but also to demonstrate their natural ethical behavior at work.

Mr R C Pradhan, General Secretary of the Workers' Union pointed out that the employees are showing good ethical behavior even though a large number of jobs in FAMD are executed through contracts.

Mr B K Sahu informed that though India ranked 75th among the most corrupt countries, Tata Steel employees are proud of the company's honest & ethical behavior.

Similarly, Mr Sushanta Mishra, Mr Mihir Mohapatra, Mr Anil Kumar and Mr G P Sahu expressed their views on the improvement journey in the area of ethical behavior in Sukinda. Ethics month will have full month's calendar in line with the Tata Steel's programme.

Meanwhile, good ethical behavior was exemplified by two workers engaged under a contractor. Mr Arjun Naik and Budhia Naik found a money purse in the Chrome Valley Club while they were cleaning the club.

Immediately, they brought it to the notice of Mr AK Ghosh, Head(Admin) who was present there. The money purse contained a cash of Rs 1,150, one ATM card and ID card of Mr. Bharat Sahoo, Senior Manager (NRD). Mr Sahoo was informed about it and he collected his money purse from them.

As a gesture of good ethical behavior, both Mr Arjun Naik and Mr Budhia Naik were invited to the administrative office and were praised for their work.Mr Ghosh and Mr Anil Kumar, Ethics Counselor, Sukinda shared a cup of tea with them and posed for photographs. Such good ethical behavior of contractor's employees is certainly a sign of high morale value.
