Tata Steel's CSR initiatives catapults to national limelight

Tata Steel's CSR initiatives once more became a show stealer as the Company was honoured with "UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) India Business Awards 2009" in the category of 'Corporate Social Responsibility'. The award was received by Mr Partha Sengupta, Vice President (Corporate Services) and Mr Satish Pillai, Chief, Corporate Sustainability Services from Lord Mervyn Davies in Mumbai on Thursday, 17th September, 2009.

The final selection for the award in this group was done between Hindustan Unilever Limited, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and Tata Steel.

The UKTI India Business Awards 2009 once again celebrates the achievements of UK and Indian companies that have found exciting ways of conducting business between our two nations. The event had seven categories recognizing the dynamism, creativity and innovation behind each of these success stories - Investor of the Year, Business Partnership Award, Green Innovation Award, New Market Entrant, Corporate Social Responsibility Award, Young Business Leader of the Year and Business Person of the Year.

About UK Trade& Investment (UKTI) India Business Awards
The first ever UK Trade & Investment India Business Awards were launched by British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, in New Delhi in September 2005 as a means to celebrate UK-India relations and recognize India’s position as a key global partner. The awards were first presented by His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, on 1st November 2006. Since then, this programme has gone from strength to strength. The awards have also celebrated the stellar role played by several British and Indian business icons in further strengthening the special relationship shared by our two vibrant economies. Ratan N Tata, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Lord Billimoria, K V Kamath, Dr Vijay Mallya and Naresh Goyal are some of the unique individuals to have been honoured with these awards.
