St. Xaviers Higher Secondary School (Britto), Haldia won the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest that was held in Haldia. Usnish Adhikari and Spandan Roy were the participants who belonged to the winning team. The second position was bagged by The Assembly of God Church School, Kolkata and the team that stood third was St Xaviers High School, Haldia.

The quiz was a battle of wits and knowledge between the 6 participating teams. The display of intelligence by the students left the audience in awe of the children who exhibited a perfect combination of knowledge and presence of mind. The jubilant team of St. Xaviers Higher Secondary School (Britto), Haldia won a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-. The team that stood second was awarded Rs. 3000/- and the team which came third received a cash prize of Rs. 2000/- . The response to the Quiz in Haldia was overwhelming with almost 51 teams from Haldia and 5 teams from Kolkata participating in the preliminary rounds from across the state of Orissa.

Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz is one of the many events that have been planned by Tata Steel to celebrate its Centenary. This nation –wide hunt for the students who are unmatched in their knowledge and quizzing has travelled to Ranchi, Raipur, Jamadoba, West Bokaro, Noamundi, Chennai, Bangalore, Tarapore, Bhubaneswar already and it was held in Haldiar today. This series of Quiz across the country will end in the Grand Finale that is scheduled to take place in Jamshedpur.

The Inter-School Centenary Quiz has been organized with the objective to promote the culture of quest for knowledge amongst students, enabling them to emerge as enriched well-informed and global citizens. As this is Tata Steel’s Centenary Year, the Quiz is special as the 3 winners from all centres will be called to Jamshedpur for the Grand finale. The mega Quiz is scheduled to take place later this year in the Steel City, genesis ground of Tata Steel.
