Anirudh S and Ravi Shankar from Vidya Niketan Public School, Bangalore won Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest that was held in Bangalore today. Sri Kumaran Children’s Home came second and Vijaya Composite Pre University stood third.

The winning team won a cash prize of Rs. 2500 each followed by Rs. 1500 for the team that stood second and the team which came third received a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- each. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. V N Subba Rao, Chairman – Karnataka Media Academy who gave away awards to the winning teams. He praised the participants for their enthusiasm and knowledge. The Bangalore section of the Tata Steel Centenary Quiz received an overwhelming response from the school children in Chennai with almost 233 teams participating in the preliminary round.

To commemorate 100 years of its glorious existence, the company has planned a host of activities throughout the year. One of the key highlights is the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Competition that will travel across a number of towns and cities in India. The travelling quiz has already set foot in Ranchi, Raipur, Jamadoba, West Bokaro, Noamundi, Chennai and was held in Bangalore today. In addition to these cities, the quiz contest will travel to Tarapur on December 4 and Bhabaneswar on December 10 along with Kolkata and Haldia. This series of Quizs across the country will end in the Grand Finale that is scheduled to take place in Jamshedpur.

The Inter-School Centenary Quiz is being organized with the objective to promote the culture of quest for knowledge amongst students, enabling them to emerge as enriched well-informed and global citizens. As this is Tata Steel’s Centenary Year, the Quiz is special as the 3 winners from all centres will be called to Jamshedpur for the Grand finale. The mega Quiz is scheduled to take place later this year in the Steel City, genesis ground of Tata Steel.
