Tata - DAV Public School, Noamundi Wins Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest
~Tata Steel creates opportunity for youngsters to prove their mettle in the battle of knowledge~

Jagdish Rao and Subrata Mukherjee from Tata - DAV Public School, Noamundi won Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest that was held in Noamundi today, at the JRD Tata Technical Institute Auditorium (JRDTTI). The second and third prize was also won by two teams from Tata – DAV Public School.
The winning team won a cash prize of Rs. 2500 each followed by Rs. 1500 for the team that stood second and the team which came third received a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- each. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Shailesh Verma, Chief (Joda), Tata Steel, who gave away the prizes to the winning teams. Also present at the function were Mr. Sachindra Mahato, President and Mr. G T Reddy, General Secretary, respectively of Noamundi Mazdoor Union, Principals of different schools, parents, company’s executives and employees.
The Chief Guest praised the participants for their enthusiasm and knowledge. The Joda section of the Tata Steel Centenary received an overwhelming response from the schools with 42 participants in the preliminary round.
To commemorate 100 years of its glorious existence, the company has planned a host of activities throughout the year. One of the key highlights is the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Competition that will travel across a number of towns and cities in India. The travelling quiz has already set foot in Ranchi, Raipur and Jamadoba and was held in Noamundi today. In addition to these cities, the quiz contest will travel to Chennai, Tarapur, Kolkata, Haldia and Bangalore followed by the Grand Finale in Jamshedpur.
The Inter-School Centenary Quiz is being organized with the objective to promote the culture of quest for knowledge amongst students, enabling them to emerge as enriched well-informed and global citizens. As this is Tata Steel’s Centenary Year, the Quiz is special as the 3 winners from all centres will be called to Jamshedpur for the Grand finale. The mega Quiz is scheduled to take place later this year in the Steel City, genesis ground of Tata Steel.
