Tata Main Hospital to observe World Heart Day by conducting Screening Camps in Jamshedpur
The Department of Cardiology, Tata Main Hospital in association with Urban Services, College of Nursing and Tata Digital Health will be conducting free screening camps to observe World Heart Day. Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and BMI will be checked during the camps. This endeavor will help individuals to take care of their health and make Jamshedpur a healthy heart city.
The camps will be organised from September 20 -28, 2016 at TMH and TMH Clinics - Baridih, Sakchi, Sonari, Kadma and South Park. It will also be organised at the Urban Community Centers - Kagalnagar, Ramdasbhatta, Bhalubasa Dhatkidih, Namda , Baridih and Bagbera.
World Heart Day is observed on the September 29 every year. It is the biggest global awareness program for cardiovascular diseases which includes heart attacks and strokes. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause for death at 17 million worldwide and is expected to rise to 23 million by 2030.
In India heart attacks strike at a younger age and is attributed to the high prevalence of undetected and inadequately treated hypertension and diabetes along with tobacco use, sedentary lifestyle habits and unhealthy food habits. Heart attacks can be prevented to a large extent by raising awareness about the risk factors.
