The
Tata Relief Committee (TRC) has undertaken relief
and rehabilitation work in the tsunami affected
areas of South India. In the district of Tirunelveli, TRC was
one of the first voluntary organisations
to begin the relief operations for the displaced people
and survivors of tsunami. Tata Relief Committee rushed with
materials including household items, dry rations, roofing materials
and other basic emergency requirements. Base camps were set
up at Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari to provide relief
materials.
The
Lifeline Express Project
is being sponsored by Tata Steel for the eighth
time - the maximum times by a single corporate
house. This initiative has already reached out to nearly 30,000
patients.
An
MOU is being signed with DuPont,
known worldwide as World Class Safety Performing Company for
Safety Management. Plans for next five years will be formulated
to enhance Tata Steel’s safety performance. “Safety
by Choice – Tata Steel Voice” –
a Safety Excellence initiative has been implemented.
The
Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) completed 25
years of service to rural communities
around its operational units. Established in 1979, TSRDS
works in the areas of education, sports and self reliance to
help improve the quality of life.
