 The
products manufactured by Tata Steel cater to sectors such as auto/ auto ancillaries,
consumer durable, construction/ infrastructure, capital goods and general engineering.
Typically 85% of the production is sold in the domestic market and the balance is
exported.
Products manufactured at different locations reach the consumer through
direct dispatch or through a network of retail stockyards located in all major cities in
India. Customised products are also delivered to end-users through various conversion
agents.
Tata Steel has adopted a de-integrated business model. It attempts to
add to its value chain in segments where it is competitive to do so. It manufactures the
primary products where the raw materials are located and produces finished goods closer to
its markets.
