Tata Archery Academy

Brief History

Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata envisaged not only Asia's first fully integrated Steel Plant but also the model township of Jamshedpur. He wrote to his son Dorabji Tata, emphasising the need for creating large spaces for playgrounds, when planning the township of Jamshedpur.

His son, Sir Dorabji Tata provided the impetus and financial support from their personal funds to facilitate the Indian Team's participation in the 1920 Antwerp Olympics. Sir Dorabji Tata then went on to become the first President of the Indian Olympic Association.

Commitment to sports, coupled with mushrooming talent in the Jharkhand where the Steel is plant is located led to creation of Tata Archery Academy in 1996.
