Income Generation
    

During the year, the Jamshedpur unit of the Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) undertook six collaborative projects in addition to its own ongoing programmes. It covered 84 villages in six blocks.

All targets with respect to Income Generation were achieved during the year by the Jamshedpur unit. The important thrust areas for Income Generation within the operational area of the unit were Agricultural Extension, Water Management, Allied Activities and Forest Management.

Achievements
 
- 114 additional acres brought under the second crop
- 102 Water Harvesting Structures created
- Farmers under the Income Generation Mission Hariyali and Project Samriddhi earned Rs. 10.95 lakhs in additional income
- Approximately Rs. 40 lakhs raised via Resource Mobilisation for projects.
- 10% of those trained received gainful employment
   
Agri Extension
 
Through projects, with well defined objectives and targets, the Jamshedpur unit of TSRDS works in villages identified by it for Agri Extension work.

Project Samriddhi Mission Hariyali
 
  Training - 460 villagers cultivated the Kharif crop over 30 acres
 
- 260 villagers undertook Rabi cash crop cultivation in 11 pani panchayats; 56 villagers covered 35 acres
 
- 67 villagers were trained for summer crop in two villages
- 46 villagers trained to cultivate vegetable cash crop

- 30 beneficiaries given poultry training

- Rabi cash crop training for 68 villagers, seven of them covered 120 acres

- 76 villagers trained for summer & allied activities

- 14 beneficiaries engaged in goatery; 12 in duck rearing
  
  Savings for Gainful SHGs Rs. 24,000/- Rs. 1,16,160/-
 
  SHGs sustained 11 old; 5 old engaged in lift irrigation; 14 new SHGs, 4 female SHGs
 
12 old; 5 new for lift irrigation; 7 female groups
