Income Generation

Agri Extension

In 2004-05, the Jamadoba unit provided farmers with HYV seeds, organised agricultural training and enhanced irrigation facilities to help them grow a second and third crop.

Water Management

Ever though the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, where Jamadoba is located, receives the highest rainfall in the state, a water crisis constantly looms large over the farmers of the area. TSRDS has undertaken watershed projects in two blocks of the district. It is also participating in a Government of India aided project to check soil erosion and run-off. This project will be implemented in 48 villages.

Allied Activities

One animal husbandry unit was established and seven were sustained by TSRDS. It also distributed1800 fruit tree saplings to farmers during the year. These activities enabled households to supplement their family income and improve their nutritional status.

Achievements

- 82 acres bought under second crop

- 42 acres used for summer vegetables

- 339 families received assistance for development

- Rs. 9,43,700/- earned by farmers

Agri Extension

- 14 agri-training workshops organised

- Agri instruments distributed to 14 farmers.

- 272 farmer households benefited



Water Management

- 10 watershed projects in Baliapur and Govindpur blocks

- 48 villages to be covered by DPAP programme for water management.
Allied Activities
