  West Bokaro

The state of Jharkhand receives possibly the highest rainfall in the country. Yet in the villages of the West Bokaro district of the state, the ground water table has been steadily dropping. The West Bokaro unit of Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) has been attempting to recharge ground water through water harvesting structures, recharging of borewells, rooftop rain water harvesting structure, loose boulder check dams and diversion channels. The results achieved by it are extremely encouraging.
